Famous in Hong Kong for the design of the Mall at Pacific Place, the Heatherwick Studio represents the new innovative tendencies into British design. Created in 1994, the studio had its first large scale commissions in 2001 and has become a leading design Studio since.
From furniture to infrastructure, the studio created very futurist buildings around the world. Criticising its plans, working with external craftsmanship or consulting groups, the Studio rethink its design regularly and brings shapes and materials to their limits.

A long term relationship with Hong Kong:
“Heatherwick was just 38 years old when he won the Pacific Place contract in 2008, but he already had a formidable reputation by then. Back in 2005, he was asked to redesign Wan Chai’s Southorn Playground, but the project was cancelled by the government because of high costs.” South China Morning Post
The Studio was also commissioned a new design for HK transportation, a hybrid bus, but the order was aborted because of technical reasons.
